A friend, Adam, and I were bored one evening and decided to go to the public library and lock ourselves in one of those sound-proof study rooms. We were armed with a typewriter (I know! A typewriter?! Libraries are AMAZING!) and some pens. We went a little insane but had a lot of fun making scribbles and editing them all together to make a book.

Red Sketchbook (page 29)

Well, friend, this is the last of the Red Sketchbook. No more. But, don't you fear, someday I will get another one and make more fun sketches like this. Anyway, this was a little different from my other pages... can you see what is different? I hope so. I decided to put the gray tone markers away for a day and try water color out on this book. The paper was strong enough to take all the paint's abuse (which was a lot) and here is the end result.

Stay tuned now for the next set of sketchbooks.

One of the first times I wrote "Yum Me" for something. My, how its been a while! Also you can see one of the sillier drawings I used to make in college of a hand turkey eating ice cream. I think this is where all of my ice cream drawings stemmed from. Maybe?

MORE RED SKETCHBOOK! Here are pages 21 and 22. These are a bit old as you can see by the "I live in the ocean" comment which meant that I lived in the Sunset near the ocean. Not too much fun out there. Also, there is an early form of on of my overly-drawn characters. Originally, he was designed to have an eye patch and cross bones on his chest but, over the years, he has lost both.

Well, much like yesterday, I have found some free time to scan/edit/upload some old artwork. Here are some more scans from my red sketchbook from 2008-2009ish. I scanned and posted the first 18 pages about a year or so ago on tonypapesh.com. After a long break, I have decided it was time to post to thrilling conclusion to the book! Here is the cover (nothing special, but I feel it gives a mental image of the actual book) as well as the next few pages.

Well, it is not new-news anymore, but I recently went to Japan back in April. There is so much to see that I only managed to see Tokyo.... and a very small part of it, I might add. Taking the train from station to station, it seems like the city never ends and 10 days of exploring is barely enough to scratch the surface. Anyhow, this is one of the first photos taken when we saw land and I thought it turned out kind of neat so, here you go!

Besides the many adventures I had overseas, I have been keeping busy with making new art for an upcoming art show as well as trying to upload some new artwork through the internet. Right now, I have some paintings from late 2009 posted on my site and, hopefully, I will have more new work to show the world.

Hey there everyone!

Sorry for the lack of updates for the past--- 6 months? I have been very busy being productive these past few months and I think I need to show my blog some love.

The past few months, I have been busy with putting my art in some local gallery shows, buying toys for the holidays and working on animations for Golden Grahams (http://goldengrant.com/) with my buddy Adama Avilla (http://adamavilla.com/).

Well, now that you are caught up, I thought I would share some short-term-future plans. I need to update a few things, mainly my site and this here blog. I am not planning much of an overhaul, just a bit of an update of some graphics (photos/type/possibly color schemes?). Also I want to start up an inspiration blog to house all the collective goodies I have find.

With that said, I hope to update this blog soon with some new content.

I am just waking up from my celebration hang over to an empty bed made of loose sand and unpacked clothes. Oddly enough, we were able to escape the sights and sounds of the fireworks yet I didn't feel like I missed anything. Flashes of fire in the sky are so temporary, but so are clean hands.

Aftermath of distorted guitars.

Creation and destruction of the same piece. Its been a while, but I am FINALLY enjoying creating stuff again. I have been bound by too many rules, assignments, and restrictions to be able to do what I want. I just want to enjoy making things.

As for this piece, I was experimenting and having some fun with text, scribbles, line weight, effects and just seeing what I can do. Just a release of energy from work.

Some thoughts: "It never rains." There haven't been many thunderstorms in San Francisco for the past few years. This city needs the loud flashes of light and the loud roars. I think people take advantage of the consistency of the weather here. The minute changes in seasons make you lose track of the years.
